The Saga Begins

As most of you know, I REALLY wanted a Homer Simpson Chia Pet

for Christmas from one of the secret santas I had this year. (One at work and one amongst friends). Luckily, while I was shooting the breeze with the coworker who happened to be my secret Santa, I said that that was what I wanted and he got it for me. I waited a week after getting it to start, mostly because I'm a dumb ass and I forgot to do it. But this past Saturday I had to come into the office to take care of something, and since no other real work was going on, I decided to get this thing started.

The first thing you have to do is take 2 teaspoons full of seeds from the seed packet and soak them in 1/4 cup of water. This is to form the jelly seed paste that you will spread along the grooves of your chia figure. This concoction has to soak for 24 hours. Luckily (by design) you have to also soak your Chia figure in water for 24 hours. This is because that is how your chia plant grows; it absorbs the water through the pottery and keeps growing.

Due to my schedule, I wasn't able to spread my seed until Monday afternoon (Making it 48 hours of soaking). I really don't think it affected anything adversely, but we shall see. So Monday afternoon, I spooned the jelly onto Homer's head and spread it into the grooves. I was hoping to get a nice coverage without too many gaps. And then I filled the head with water and that has pretty much been it since.

These pictures have been taken on Wednesday at about 2:30. I see nothing growing yet, but they say it takes 1 to 2 weeks to grow. So lets all hope for the best.
